Wedding announcements usually come in the form of a card a picture postcard, and while these are tried and true methods, why not go for something a bit more creative to tell your friends and family about the big day?

Not just for campaigning, buttons have taken over as a hip platform for spreading the word about a business, band, brand, or catchphrases (darn, couldn’t think of an adequate b-word to end it). Investing in a button making machine may be too costly, but if you do some research you may find a button-making class in your area or a friend-of-a-friend who’s willing to loan you his/her machine. Design ideas abound and you may even think of streamlining the look of your buttons with your wedding day motif.

String Around the Finger

Include a string or ribbon with your wedding invitation as a cute take on the traditional reminder for the forgetful. Having a string around one’s finger or wrist leads one to wonder why, thereby triggering a memory of the obligation in question. You can get creative and personal with the color and fabric of the string and maybe even go so far as to attach a small tag with information about your important date.

Mix CDs

Share the news with a compilation of your favorite tunes. Give the folks a preview of the music they should expect when they hit the wedding day dance floor and for an added touch, make the first track on the CD a personal message from you and your betrothed to your friends and family.

Short Video

The greenest and most tech savvy way to announce the event is to ditch snail mail options and email everyone a link to a personalized engagement video. It’s also an opportunity to get comfortable in front of the camera before you’re center stage at your wedding. Be as goofy or sophisticated as your personality allows.
