The Final Ingredient

Like many brides-to-be, Lisa Linehan has all of the details in place for her February 15th wedding. She has the venue squared away. She’s found a few dresses she loves. She even has a DJ selected for the big day.

Now all she needs is a groom.

The Dallas, Texas resident was at a friend’s wedding this past February when she began considering her own romantic situation and realized not much time stood between her and her rapidly approaching thirty-fifth birthday. That’s when she concocted the idea to set a wedding date to help expedite the process of finding a mate. She’s dubbed it “Project Husband.”

In what she calls “an adventure in dating,” Linehan will use the deadline to (hopefully) find someone who is “kind, loving, fun, music-appreciating, expressive, and honest,” all the while blogging about her exploits for all the world to revel in with giggling, voyeuristic glee.

Linehan says one of the biggest criticism she’s faced since she launched her quest are allegations that she is “desperate,” but she is quick to rebuff those claims. “I’ve been out with 52 different guys since I launched this,” she says. “If I were truly desperate, I would have run into a relationship with one of those. So I really am looking for the real deal, and I hope I find it.”

And if she doesn’t find the one before the ides of February?

“If I don’t, I’ve lived this long independently, so it’s not going to kill me.”

And lest those deposits go to waste, her wedding plans will still be put to good use. “The vendors and I have talked about donating the ceremony to a couple in the area who needs it,” Linehan explains, “so somebody will get married!”

Watch the following clip of Linehan performing a musical entreaty to potential suitors and let us know what you think about her plan in the comments below!

Is it crazy enough to work… or just plain crazy? Does Project Husband strike you as desperate or ingenious?

  1. Meh. I don’t know if she’s desperate to find a husband, but she might be desperate for her own reality show.

  2. Well, I really like the fact of donating the wedding if she doesn’t get married…
