Invitations Aren’t Just Made of Paper Anymore
A wedding invitation doesn’t necessarily need to be paper based. There are so many unique materials to consider – especially if you are looking for something original. We love to try new things and materials when producing custom design for our clients.
Consider these materials:
Wood veneer
What a great medium – did you know it takes fewer trees to make wood veneer then it does to make paper? Wood veneer comes in several shades such as walnut, birch, and beech. You can print directly on wood veneer with a letter press machine or try a custom stamp. It can always be used as a backer or band. A great resource for wood veneer is: cardsofwood.com .

Muslin bags
Consider printing your invitation on a fabric bag and then stuffing the reply card and map inside. You can find fabric bags in bulk in all sorts of sizes at uline.com. Consider hand screening each bag with a print Gocco – an old style Japanese screen printer. We have one in house and love the results.

Fabric
Going for that high end look? Purchase some fabric and have each invitation embroidered with your wording. A great western chic look would be jute fabric with an espresso thread. You can continue the theme with your ring pillow as well.

Wallpaper
Yes, this is still paper – but the patterns you can find in wallpaper lines are so unusual and many times have a different physical feel. Think embellishments – paper band, die cut shapes, envelope liners, etc.

The key is to try something new and be inventive with how you use it. I guarantee your guests will adore your creativity.
